About Me

I have been teaching obedience classes since 1990 and now teach in several communities in the West Kootenays including Nelson, Castlegar, Warfield and the Slocan Valley. In 2000 I began to teach agility classes and more recently Rally-O classes as well. I have been involved in obedience competition since purchasing my first English Springer Spaniel puppy in 1986. I am a member in good standing of the Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers and the Association of Pet Dog Trainers in the U.S. as well as a judge with the Agility Association of Canada.

Having trained and competed with my own dogs, taught many classes and attended numerous seminars and conferences in dog training, canine behaviour, and agility, my teaching methods are current, positive and effective.

I have earned many High in Trial and High Aggregate (combined score) awards with my English Springers in both Canada and the U.S. One of my dogs, "Echo", placed in the top 5 obedience English Springers in Canada five years in a row from 1995 to 1999. Echo's daughter "L'acy", has placed in the top five in 1999 and 2000, and L'acy's daughter "Flair" earned 2 High In Trial awards as soon as she began her obedience career. My dogs and I compete in agility in both Canada and the U.S. L'acy became the first dog in the Kootenays and the first English Springer Spaniel in British Columbia to earn an Agility Trial Championship. As well, Echo, L'acy, Flair and Tchai (at 10 1/2 months) have earned tracking titles in Canada. Echo and L'acy have also earned tracking titles in the U.S. All my dogs have done conformation showing. L'acy and Flair recently attended our first Rally Obedience trial. Both dogs achieved their Novice Rally titles at this trial, with Flair earning 3 perfect 200 scores.

Every few years, I selectively breed a litter of English Springer Spaniels under the kennel name of Misko English Springer Spaniels.
